In the 1930's our house was the Hutchinson Sugar Mill plantation manager's retreat, located in the cool mountain climate of Volcano Village, on the Big Island of Hawaii. On the grounds is a gem of a cottage, the former maid's quarters. Newly renovated, the cottage is a delightful hideaway in the very heart of the village. The Maid's Quarters has a large bedroom with Queen-size bed and gas fireplace, a complete kitchen with dining area, a laundry room with washer and dryer, a bathroom with shower, and a livingroom with a woodburning stove, TV/VCR, CD player, telephone. Guests have access to our hottub in the gazebo. |

This new Cottage is located in one of the last high-altitude rainforests in the U.S. Centrally located, near the village of Volcano (altitude approx. 3600 ft) four miles from the entrance of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in the heart of the Big Island of Hawaii, just 2 hours from the Kona Coast on the west side, 2 hours from Waimea to the north and 30 minutes from Hilo on the East side. This cottage is comprised of a master bedroom with queen size bed, spacious living room with cathedral ceiling, complete kitchen and a tiled bathroom with a luxurious spa-size tub and private views into the forest. There is a roomy loft with a full size platform bed. Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa volcanoes looming above the treetops can be viewed from there. The loft is accessed from the living room by way of a ships ladder. In the living room there is a convertible futon sofa for additional sleeping. Coffee, tea and a variety of breakfast materials are provided for your convenience and pleasure. |
