At 4,350 feet above sea level the spectacular view takes in over 50 miles of Big Island Conservation Coast. Hawaii is the most remote place on the planet and because of the trade winds the air is the freshest you will breathe in the world. Perched on Mana Loa’s beautiful lava, Hale Pelekana is secluded from the fast paced world and everyday toxins. Close to pristine snorkeling and sunning beaches, whales and dolphins, Volcanoes National Park, and other wonderful Hawaii attractions; yet far enough away to be a haven from toxic environments and crowds. |

Pahala is the sunny place to stay in restored plantation homes and mansion near the black sand turtle beach and surrounded by Volcanoes National Park. Near Kilauea Volcano, the village rests on the slopes of Mauna Loa Volcano with coffee and macadamia, horses and cattle farms encircling the town, Wood Valley and native forests just above it. Punalu`u is the Ka`u beach for swimming, snorkeling and surfing on the longest uninhabited coast in Hawaii. Visit Green Sand Beach. Pahala is located just 6 miles from Punaluu black sand beach where threatened Hawaiian green sea turtles sun and endangered Hawaiian hawksbill turtles lay their eggs, protected by federal law and native Hawaiian volunteers who guard them. (Please stay 15 feet away from turtles). Pahala is a quiet retreat for rest and exploration of Volcanoes National Park, Hawaiian historic sites, the farms and forests of nearby Wood Valley, and dramatic coastal areas, such as South Point, a peninsula of sea cliffs jutting out into the Pacific. The U.S. Congress with help from the Nature Conservancy and Volcanoes National Park, recently purchased 116,000 acres for preservation, expanding Volcanoes National Park to surround Pahala and nearby villages. |
