We are located near Hawi, in North Kohala at the north end on the Big Island. Just minutes from Historic Hawi and Kapa'au. This area is rich in rolling green hills, breathtaking views of Maui, Polo Lu Valley, waterfalls, and yet just on the cusp between the desert leeward side and the rainy windward side with year round ideal temperatures. Some favorite nearby activities include a morning hike into Pololu Valley's black sand beach, or horseback rides either in the high country or lowlands- Makapala and Keokea Beach park area, or hike back into the Pololu waterfalls trail, or kayak the Kohala ditch (Flummin' da ditch), or take a tour on the Humvey/ATV tours. Mountain biking is also a favorite as there is plenty of uncrowded road to explore. Mahukona and Kapaa Beach parks offer good entry for snorkeling of diving and great sunsets as well. These are only minutes away, just 'around the corner' on the dry side. Of course Hapuna and Mauna Kea are only 25 minutes away along the always scenic and desolate Akoni Pule Highway. In winter this offers an land lover's best whale watch as there are always whales breaching and swimming along the way. |

The Jacaranda Inn offers restful, romantic accommodations at an historic ranch estate on Hawaii's Big Island. Eight rooms and suites are housed in buildings such as former bunkhouses for Parker Ranch ranchhands. Modest plantation style exteriors belie sumptuous interiors. Each room has a comfortable sitting area and a grand bathroom. Along with a three bedroom streamside home, the Jacaranda can accommodate up to 22 guests on about a dozen acres. At the heart of the property is the main house which was built in 1897 for the ranch manager. It provides a lovely setting for breakfast, which is served complimentary to our guests each morning. Bath, bed and breakfast are each a delight. The estate is well located in the town of Waimea, also known as Kamuela. Waimea is the island's dining destination and is found at an intersection of rural highways that sport vistas as varied as they are beautiful. While the Inn rests at an elevation of 2500 feet (762 meters) above sea level, it is only a fifteen to twenty minute drive to the island's finest beaches and golf courses. |
